New Predator to Stud

Kerry Jack News

KJB weanling purchase, NEW PREDATOR, to stand at stud this season:

'New Predator, the first son of New Approach to enter stud in South Africa, is the latest addition to the stallion roster at Bush Hill Stud near Mooi River in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

Unraced at two, the Australian-bred made heads turn with a six-length romp at the second time of asking and looked a winner in the Gr.2 Dingaans until edged out by subsequent Gr.1 Cape Guineas hero Noah From Goa in a head-bobbing finish. A relentless frontrunner, he opened his Stakes account in the Gr.2 Drill Hall Stakes where he had the likes of Horse of the YearLegislate and Durban July winner The Conglomerate behind him. Also successful in the Gr.2 Charity Mile at four, some of New Predator’s best efforts came in defeat at the top level. Twice third to Horse of the Year Legal Eagle in the Gr.1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes, he also finished in that position when beaten just a length in the Gr.1 Mercury Sprint. Effective from 6f to a 1m, the powerful bay retires to stud the winner of five races and over R1.8m in earnings.

New Predator is out of the winning Fastnet Rock mare Head Over Heels, a half-sister to multiple Australian Stakes winner and Gr.2 and Gr.3-placed Presently (Unbridled’s Song), Gr.3 Black Opal runner-up Another Time (Gilded Time) and to the dam of Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas third and Gr.2 winner Serena Miss (Iffraaj).'
